Fun from the weekend.

These are some shots from when sister was here making sauce.
Benny and i played a bit.

Benny stopped in mid roll while looking at his mom.

Flowers in the sky

these pretty flowers on the tree look like they're
floating in the sky to me.

Pretty purple flowers that just want to be noticed.

Don't worry flowers, i notice you.

Making Sauce.

That giant basket of tomatoes i showed you yesterday?
Lets make some sauce!

Mom boils them for 10 minutes.

Then, they are put in more buckets.

They are transported outside because they can be messy.

Here is a shot of the 'guts' of the matoes.

this is the good stuff that will be the sauce.

You put the matoes in the top of the machine,
then turn the handle.

you can fill it up with a few tomatoes at a time.
It gets REAL hot from the boiled matoes.

Benny hangs out waiting for his mom to finish making
the sauce. he's bored right now.

I supervise from the other side of the table far
away from benny.

see the juices going into the pot?

It's such a cool machine!
it strips the seeds and the pulp and
only the juice goes in the pot.

Later (we don't have pictures) it gets cooked and we added
fresh basil and cooked onions, garlic, and red pepper for the sauce.

it was great!
we had tons of fun.

Ode to the tomato plants

Look at the basket of tomatoes!
This is sister's basket....
we're going to make sauce!

And all of these, are going to the clinic where sister works
as a gift!
We don't have any more room in the fridge or freezer
for sauce, so we have to get rid of these.

Some of the tomatoes dad stole- so he could eat them.
He sliced them up REAL good.
Then he put basil on it from our plants.

Then he put fresh mozzarella on it!
My dad loves italian food!

here dad is placing the cheese carefully on his tomatoes.

this is not made by mom, but
it's another example of something you can do with
tomatoes!

Easy like sunday morning....

Ahhhh....

That little brat ben is gone! peace and quiet again! at last!

As a reward, i get to go on my own vacation. my hoomans gracefully loaded up the car and ocean bound we were yesterday- only a few hours after ben left.

So this morning.... what am i doing while all of you are trapped inside?

I'm lounging on my very own screened in porch writing you. And, right after this... i'm going to the beach!

Today's the day!

What am i smiling for you ask?!
Benny goes home today!

Friday in the garden.

These poor tomatoes.
Dad picked all the ripe ones already!
But this one got attacked, see the hole in him?

Shhhhh... don't tell benny where i am, he'll try
to hang out with me!

Since sister is gone all week,
Benny is staying here with us.
Luckily it's already thursday, so the little
nutball will be going home on saturday.

He is SO annoying.
I can't believe sister made me pose with him.
Again.

He seems to really like it here,
but i don't like him here.

I think we're just too different.
