New Decorations...

Mom has ordained this lovely stein as well. We collect those too. mom is more than half german. And she loves little things like this.

Sister got her this stein last christmas. :) Sister got mom a lot of steins.

She has filled it with fake pretty plants, that look a lot like Edelweiss. (a very soft flower that grows on the alps of Europe.)

As the legend goes- suitors proved their love by climbing the alps.

It is still worn today, and featured on steins and clothing. Its a symbol of love, bravery, strength, and dedication.

Sister did go to Europe- and visited the great Neuschwanstein castle. Its high up on the side of the alps. You have to either ride a bus up, or take a VERY VERY long walk. Sister decided to walk it, and it took them a half hour to reach the top. She and her friend walked up, while everyone else rode the bus.

She got to enjoy the scenery- and smell that fresh crisp mountain air.

While she was there, she did also happen across one single Edelweiss blossom. She got to touch it, and she says its the softest flower she's ever felt. She was lucky to get to see it. All the girls who were too cool to walk, missed everything.


Here are some more decorations mom made. Simple pine cones, and a hurricane vase. Add some ribbon, and glitter paint, and you have a very pretty snowy looking decoration.
