Ode to the boy child.

Hello all you great friends of mine.

I am NOT participating in this weeks Photo Hunters, however, i am going to tell you a short story.

Back a while ago, my boy had a bad time with his Colitis. He came out of remission. Right in the middle of his senior year, and 2 weeks before his birthday.

He was so sick he was out of school completely. And bed ridden. I slept with him and kept watch and sent him all the healing power my little body could muster. It was exhausting! But, it paid off. And he's well again.

During that time he had 2 hospital visits, where he stayed for a weekend and had blood transfusions. So, needless to say, it was VERY serious. We were all very worried, and didn't know how much longer his body could hold on.

We almost lost him.

During this time, of course, it was his senior year, and we found he couldn't graduate with his class due to the fact that he couldn't walk. he would get a diploma, and they offered a wheel chair- but he just wasn't going to do that in front of his school. So, sister got a bright idea for the perfect gift.

During his years in high school, he came to watch and idolize a man named 'Stephen Colbert'. He has a show on Comedy Central, 'The Colbert Report'. The man also has his own book:

Which the boy got. And read. And the boy doesn't read in his spare time, but for mr. colbert, we can do miracles! The boy eats the ben & jerry's colbert flavored ice cream.

While in the hospital, the boy NEVER missed an episode. He is his hero. We're not sure why, but he is pretty funny. So. Sister wrote this man.

And told him the story. (we've shortened it for you, but we wrote the whole thing for colbert) And for graduation, sister gave the boy child an autographed photo of colbert. That says "Be brave! Stephen Colbert" And its sitting on a gold frame in the boy's room.

Best present ever.

However, the story comes to an end with THIS video. the colbert music video- obviously making fun of the other music videos. Its so horrible- but its only a minute long, and catchy... we had to share it with all of you. Please don't forget to blink, it will burn the eyes from your head.

This was our stephen colbert story. Doing good for the people!

I love to hear that not all famous people are self-centered attention hogs. I think Sister's idea made fora brilliant gift. But mostly I am so very glad that your boy is well again!
